Slipcast Porcelain Vessels
Handcrafted by Karol
Next Restock: March 2026

I am a ceramicist based in Ontario, Canada.I created Cat Nap Ceramics as a way to express and share my love and appreciation for ceramics and tea culture. In 2022, I attended my first wheel throwing class. As I completed more classes and workshops to explore the world of ceramics, I took a particular interest in plaster model and mould making, and haven't looked back since.Today, I combine my exploration of sculpting, 3D modeling, mould making, and slip casting to design and create my work.

My work is characterized by soft and simple silhouettes, clean lines, and purposeful details.Functional pottery should not only serve its purpose as a vessel, but also be effortless to use and fuss-free for everyday life.
Starting with an initial sketch or idea, I create a model by sculpting an initial vessel, translating found objects into new forms, or through 3D modeling.Using the model as a reference, I design and make a plaster mould. This is both my favourite and most frustrating part of the process (successes feel amazing, failures feel very sad).Once the plaster moulds are fully cured, they are ready to use for slipcasting. Moulds aren't everlasting, so at the end of each season, I make a new set of moulds (or design a new line entirely from start to finish).
